Next phase of new homes set for delivery at Middlebeck

National housebuilder Miller Homes has purchased a parcel of land to build a new phase of housing within the consortium development project at Middlebeck in Newark-on-Trent.

The developer, whose Derby-based East Midlands region will deliver the scheme, will build 281 homes at the development, of which almost half will be provided as affordable housing.

The housing firm is the latest housebuilder to join the consortium of developers within the Middlebeck project, which is creating an urban extension of new residential and commercial development near Newark.

Miller Homes plans to deliver 141 private homes as part of its development, to be known as Miller Homes at Middlebeck. They will partner with Platform Housing Group who will market the 140 affordable properties.

Tom Roberts, regional operations director at Miller Homes East Midlands, said: “Miller Homes is delighted to have joined the Middlebeck consortium and we are looking forward to beginning construction work to deliver a significant number of new homes as part of the wider project which is transforming this part of the East Midlands into a go-to destination.

“Our land purchase benefits from a planning consent which enables Miller Homes to start construction work on the development, which will ultimately provide 281 of the homes at Middlebeck alongside our affordable homes partner, Platform Housing Group.

“We will deliver a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, of which almost 50 per cent will be provided as affordable housing, contributing towards the wider need to supply more affordable homes across the country.

“The focus now turns to swiftly making a start on site to begin creating our development when we are able to. Further details will be released on our homes in the coming months.”

The overall project at Middlebeck, led by Urban&Civic, will ultimately provide new residential, commercial and open space over a 694-acre urban extension near Newark.

Urban&Civic’s masterplan for the scheme includes around 2,600 new homes, a new primary school, employment space, a local centre, a new strategic link road, cycle path network and over 187 acres of formal and informal open space and sports facilities.

Mike van den Berg, Development Director for Urban&Civic at Middlebeck, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Miller Homes to Middlebeck and are looking forward to seeing their vision become a reality.

Miller Homes are a great addition to our development and their high quality homes will help our fantastic new community to continue to grow.”

Ann Taylor, development director at Savills based in Nottingham, comments: “We are working hard alongside Urban&Civic, who Savills acts for nationally, on this significant urban extension. It is a significant move for Newark in terms of housing delivery and specific attention has been invested in place making and the selection of the right residential developers.

“We are pleased to see Miller Homes join the existing consortium, with their partner, Platform Housing Group, as the fourth flagship housebuilder on site.”

Miller Homes plans to release its first homes for sale at Middlebeck during the summer of this year, with a showhome launch later in 2024.
